The Ultra- Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) is the “World Cup” of trail running. It is a 106 mile (171 kilometer) race around Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe. UTMB is considered one of the most difficult foot races across the globe and is also one of the largest with over 2,000 competitors.
All athletes competing in any Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc races are now prohibited from using any painkillers within 24 hours and during races. This includes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and naproxen.
